Featuring Stories from Rising Queens Foundation’s “Work as Your Future Career Day”
Have you ever wondered what it really feels like to step into your dream career, not years from now, but today?
At the Rising Queens Foundation, we believe that the best way to prepare girls for their futures is to let them experience it firsthand. That’s why our “Work as Your Future Career Day” program gives teenage girls the chance to shadow real professionals, from doctors and engineers to digital marketers, nurses, and entrepreneurs, right here in Houston and Richmond, Texas.
This isn’t just another career day. It’s a chance to turn curiosity into confidence. 💜
👑 Meet the Rising Queens Who Turned Inspiration into Action
Amara’s Story – The Aspiring Engineer
“Before the program, I thought engineering was all about math and machines. But after spending a day with a civil engineer, I saw how creative it really is. I got to see bridge designs, ask questions, and even help with a 3D model! Now, I know engineering is where I belong.”
Amara’s experience opened her eyes, and reminded us why giving girls access matters. Sometimes all it takes is one day to change how they see their future.
Janelle’s Story – The Future Digital Marketer
“I joined Rising Queens’ digital marketing class, but seeing how it works in a real company changed everything. I watched a live campaign launch and learned how social media strategy can make a brand grow. Now, I’m planning to study marketing in college!”
From the classroom to the company floor, Janelle discovered that the skills she’s learning have real-world power, and she’s ready to use them.
Tiana’s Story – From Physical Therapy to Mechanical Engineering
“At first, I thought I wanted to be a physical therapist, I love helping people and staying active. But after shadowing one for a day, I realized the work can be physically demanding. Some of the patients were really heavy to lift and move, and I knew it wasn’t for me. Then I got to explore mechanical engineering, and it completely clicked! I’ve always loved cars and figuring out how things work. Seeing engineers design and test real machines was incredible. I finally found a career that matches my passion and curiosity.”
Tiana’s journey shows that discovering what isn’t right for you is just as powerful as finding what is. Every experience counts, and every step brings you closer to your purpose.
Why Job Shadowing Matters
When girls are exposed to real workplaces, they begin to:
Visualize success. They see women who look like them thriving in their careers.
Build confidence. They ask questions, learn skills, and step outside their comfort zones.
Create connections. Mentorship turns into motivation, and sometimes even internships!
At Rising Queens Foundation, our goal is to equip the next generation of women leaders with tools, experiences, and networks that help them rise with purpose.
